This superb set of 18 silver gilt William and Mary silver small dessert/sweetmeat set were made C1690 and are featured in The Albert Collection on page 157 where they are photographed and described. The knives measure just under 5 inches long and have engraved cannon barrel handles with squared shaped steel blades marked with a cutlers mark with a flower head design to the barrel end – these are unmarked, the engraved trefid end forks measure 3 7/8 inches long and have three tines and are marked to the backs of the stems with the makers mark of IH for Jean Harache and of the 6 engraved trefid end rat tail spoons 2 measure 4 5/16 inches long and are by Thomas Tysoe and 4 measure 4 1/16 inches long and are by Jean Harache, the engraving on the spoons differs slightly between to two makers on the backs of the stems and the flame engraved bowls but this set has been together for some long time, a set of one of each could have been purchased for personal travel and may have been cased. A very rare set in very nice condition and a welcome addition to any early silver collection.
