This large and unusual pair of Queen Anne Britannia silver trencher salts were made in London in 1712 by Thomas Merry I and measures 3 3/8 inches long by 2.5 inches wide and are 1.5 inches tall, they are stepped to the sides and bear the engraved initials W over IE to the side and are fully and clearly hallmarked inside the wells. An unusually designed pair of salts in very good condition weighing 4.70 ounces or 145 grams.
