Superb large crested Provincial Queen Anne Britannia silver porringer Exeter 1705 John Murch
This large super quality Provincial Queen Anne Britannia silver porringer was made in Exeter in 1705 by John Murch and measures 4 inches tall by 8.5 inches handle to handle and is 5 1/8 inches in dia across the top and 3 1/8 inches across the base, it is spirally fluted to the bottom third with a row of wavy leaf topped engraving above then a plain band leading up to a rope design with leaf designs above and below it, it bears the pin prick engraving of GT above RS 1714 to one side and is fully and clearly hallmarked to the side, it has scrolled handles either side and is in very good condition weighing 12.65 ounces or 394 grams, a lovely rare piece of Exeter silver.
