This unusual George II style cast topped William IV silver cartouche shaped box was made in Birmingham in 1831 by Nathaniel Mills and measures 2.75 inches in length by 2 3/8 inches wide and is 0.75 inches deep, it has a cast classical scene to the lid of Alexander the Greats dialogue with Diogenes and to the underside it is engine turned with a central cartouche bearing the initials HJ, it is gilded to the interior and is fully and clearly hallmarked in the base and lid. A nice quality box from a fine maker in good condition weighing 3.30 ounces or 101 grams.
