Good crested and engraved George III silver nutmeg grater Birmingham 1809 Samuel Pemberton
This very well engraved and crested George III silver nutmeg grater was made in Birmingham in 1809 by Samuel Pemberton and measures 1 3/16 inches long by 1.24 inches wide and is 1 inch tall, it has engraved sides and is engraved underneath with a laurel wreath with the lid being engraved with thistles and flower heads with trailing tendrils of leaves, it bears a crest to the lid of a bird on a perch and the motto PRIUS MORI QUAM FIDE MFALLERE meaning I would rather die than fail, it is fully hallmarked in the base and also in the lid with the makers mark, monarchs head and lion passant, a very nice grater in very good condition.
