This quality pair of George II silver castors were made in London in 1730 by Peze Pilleau measuring 5.5 inches tall by approx 2 inches at their widest, they are crested with a griffins head and each has a baronet fitting top, one has engraved panels with a hole at the top of each panel and the other has pierced and engraved panels both leading into a stepped finial. They are fully hallmarked under the bases, the makers marks a little less clear but no mistaking the fleur de lys of Pilleau’s mark, a quality pair of castors by a sought after maker in very good condition weighing 9.5 ounces or 294 grams.
