Magnificent large oak cased George III silver basket London 1765 Thomas Heming

This magnificent oak cased large early armorial George III cast silver swing handled basket was made in London in 1765 by Royal silversmith Thomas Hemming and measures 15.75 inches in length by 12.75 inches wide and is 4 inches tall at the border and approx 11 inches tall with handle raised, it has a very ornate border with panels of piercing leading into the centre where there is a large engraved coat of arms in a lovely florid cartouche. The four large cast feet have birds sitting atop of corn ears leading into scrolled feet with the cast scrolled handle having pierced panels and acanthus leaf detailing, scrolls and a mythical looking beast head either side. It is fully and clearly hallmarked under the base and is in fantastic condition weighing 62.3 ounces or 1940 grams, a fine piece of silver from a superb maker with the bonus of having a fitted box.
