Super quality crested and cast Georgian silver table snuff box London 1835 John Linnet

This super quality crested and cast scenic Georgian silver table snuff box was made in London in 1824/5 by John Linnet and measures 3.5 inches long by 2.25 inches wide and is 0.75 inches deep, it has an original inscription inside the lid of F. ROY ESQ IN MARK OF REGARD LIEUt COL:R.ROSS 4TH DRAGOON GUARDS 1825 - Lt Col Robert Ross served under Wellington in the Peninsular Wars. It has well defined borders on four sides with hounds chasing a hare and horses and riders in pursuit and hounds with pheasants and grouse amongst foliage, to the centre is an engine turned panel with a cartouche to the centre of a ship with the sail furled and the oars out, to the front edge there is a shaped foliate thumb piece and to the base and sides it is engine turned with no wear to the engraving. Inside it is gilded and is fully and clearly hallmarked in the base and inside the lid with the makers mark, the date letter and lion passant, a lovely snuff box in excellent condition weighing 5.8 ounces or 181 grams.
