Very rare Queen Anne silver and horn tobacco box C1700/10 John Obrisset
Price £ 1,400
This very rare Queen Anne silver and horn box was made C1700-10 by John Obrisett and measures 3.25 inches long by2 3/8 inches at its widest and is 0.5 inches deep. It portrays a bearded gentleman in period dress smoking a clay pipe and is signed to the bottom left hand side with OB FECIT LONDINI. It has a silver base that is double skinned and gilded to the inside, it has a stand away hinge to the back and is in very nice condition, the horn having 2 small areas of crazing but that doesn't distract from a very well detailed portrait on this early box which was sold by Sothebys in May 2015 as part of the estate of Mary The Duchess of Roxeburgh.
