This superb and very rare Elizabethan St Andrew apostle spoon was made in London in 1600 by William Cawdell and measures 7 1/8 inches in length and is fully and clearly hallmarked to the back of the stem and inside the bowl with the leopards head. The apostle bears traces of gilding and is still well defined and has a pierced nimbus, the bowl is well formed and of good gauge and it is in excellent condition and weighs 1.80 ounces or 56 grams.
