This unusual armorial George III silver box was made in London in 1814 by Peter and William Bateman and measures 3.5 inches in length by 2 5/8 inches wide and is 0.5 inches deep, it bears the coat of arms to the lid of Oxford university and is gilded to the inside and has traces of gilding outside. It is fully and clearly hallmarked to the inside of the base as well as inside the lid with the date letter and lion passant and is in very nice condition weighing 2.15 ounces or 67 grams.
