Very rare large Commonwealth silver dish London 1659 by SA
This beautiful large and rare Commonwealth silver dish was made in London in 1659 by SA (Jacksons page 118) and measures 9.75 inches handle to handle and is 6.75 inches in dia across and it stands almost 1.25 inches tall. It is beautifully decorated with raised punch bead decoration and very typical of the Commonwealth period and has a shell shaped handle either side. It is fully hallmarked to the side and also unusually to the underside of the handles with the lion passant. It is considerably larger than the normal sweetmeat dishes or wine tasters and a very rare piece of silver.
