This super pair of crested bright cut engraved George III silver asparagus tongs were made in London in 1784 by Thomas Heming and measure 10.5 inches in length, they have bright cut engraving around the edges and a shield shape either side of the shoulders with graduating belle flowers falling from them, they are crested across the bridge with a unicorns head atop a crown, they are clearly hallmarked to the underside and have the benefit of the incuse monarchs head, a very nice pair of tongs as useful as the day they were made weighing 4.55 ounces or 142 grams.
