Unusual figural George II silver & tortoiseshell box C1740
This very rare and unusual George II silver and tortoiseshell box was made C1740 and depicts a lady in traditional dress with a hat a feather in it surrounded with small flower head decoration – possibly Columbine a character from Commedia dell-art. It measures 3.25 inches in length by 2 5/8 inches wide and 0.5 inches deep, inside it has a piece of red velvet stuck inside the base and it has a stand away hinge to the right hand side, the figure is made up of many coloured pin heads and there are all still present, it closes well and has no cracks to the shell, a lovely box in very good condition.
